On 2 February 1901, AEG Coop began its activity as a consumer cooperative company for the distribution of electric light and motive power, purchasing electricity from the Pont Saint Martin Electrochemical Society. AEG acquires the Officina del Gas and signs an agreement with the Municipality of Ivrea for the distribution of gas for domestic use.
In 1905 he also deals with the distribution of gas, having acquired the distillation plant for coal in operation since 1871.
In 1950 the problems of shortage of raw materials imposed by the wars and those due to the pressures for the transformation of the cooperative into an ordinary joint-stock company were overcome, AEG addressed with greater incisiveness on the distribution of gas from the craking of fractions of heavy petrol, the so-called " propane air ".
In 1960 They began in the sign of nationalization: in 1962 Enel was established and AEG was thus deprived of its most consistent market activity. AEG focuses exclusively on methane gas, a valuable, economical fuel with a high calorific value and low environmental impact that in those years became the protagonist of the energy sector.
In 1973 methane became available in Canavese in 1971 in modest quantities and from 1973 it replaced the propane air.
