The upper field is dominated by the emblem of the company which shows the initials V.E. - from the name of the first king of Italy Vittorio Emanuele II (1820-1878) - cimato of royal crown and flanked by garlands with fruits and ears. It is curious to note that the company was established in Lyon in 1847, its statutes were modified in 1848 by the notary Signoretti in Turin and, however, its registered and legal office was from the beginning in Genoa, at the time in the Sardinian States.
