The Italian Red Cross (acronym CRI, officially the Association of the Italian Red Cross since 2016) is a Voluntary Organization (ODV) after being an Association for social promotion, a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent organization, operating in the territory of the Italian republic.
Born in the 19th century, it became a public body with the R.D. February 7, 1884, no. 1243, and with Legislative Decree 28 September 2012 n. 178, transformed into an entity under private law and recognized as a voluntary rescue and assistance company.
