Importance of Scripophily
Collecting historic certificates, known as scripophily, is a fascinating hobby that combines an interest in economic history with an appreciation for the graphic art of old stock and bond certificates. Daimler-Benz documents are particularly prized by collectors for their historical value and the beauty of their illustrations. Owning a piece of corporate history such as an original Daimler-Benz stock certificate means possessing a part of the evolution of the global automotive industry.
All historical documents for sale are considered collectible. The documents have no economic or financial value, the second image is only representative of the company's object.
Mercedes-Benz is the trademark used by various manufacturers over time. Its first use dates back to 1926 after the merger of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (which since 1902 used the name Mercedes for its cars) with Benz & Cie. And the consequent creation of the Daimler-Benz group. The brand was owned by Daimler-Benz from 1926 to 1998 and by DaimlerChrysler from 1998 to 2007. In 2007, following the disengagement of Daimler from the group born from the merger with Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz is the brand of the new Daimler AG together with Maybach, McLaren (until 2009) and Smart.
The emblem, placed on the bonnet of the cars, represents a three-pointed star, a distinctive sign of Daimler, surrounded by the Benz laurel wreath and the words Mercedes-Benz, also on the outer crown. The name in question had already been used in 1924 for the creation of a first joint sales network between the two companies.
The origin of this star comes from a postcard where Gottlieb Daimler had drawn a 3-pointed star that represented the ability to use his engine on land, air and sea.
In 2019 Daimler decided to create the autonomous division Mercedes-Benz AG, specifically to follow the production of passenger cars and commercial vehicles, while the truck and bus divisions become Daimler Truck AG.
