Its symbol, the technological innovation par excellence - the steam engine - is reproduced in the center of the lower field; on the sides its tangible application: the locomotive and the steamship. The four medallions in the upper left quadrant show as many effigies of scientists who developed revolutionary applications of steam: Denis Papin (1647-1712), French mathematician and physicist, invented a machine and a steamboat in 1707; James Watt (1736-1819), British mathematician and engineer - from which the unit of measurement of the power of the International System took its name - in 1768 he built his model of steam engine; Robert Stephenson (1803-1859), a well-known British railway engineer, built in 1829 one of the first historic steam locomotives - designed by his father George ten years earlier - called Rocket, and Robert Fulton (1765-1815), an American engineer, inventor among the other of the steamship and the first functioning submarine called Nautilus. To complete the masterpiece, Genoa coat of arms above, cherub, mask and female figure symbolizing Industry. The rich and glorious graphic representation of the share certificate was aimed at promoting the company and persuading the potential shareholder to purchase its shares, because the action was not meant to convey illusions, but to offer certainty and credibility. The designer manages with his creative ingenuity to communicate the type of activity in which the company has decided to concentrate its efforts and the capital for which it guarantees.
