Description

In the Lombard capital the headquarters of the new company was established under the name of Società Anonima Torcitura of Borgomanero and with delegated councilor Vittorio Charollais. The Borgomanero plant, destined to occupy 700 workers, was built on a project by Ing. Sozzi of Milan and the direction of the works was entrusted to Ing. Carlo Tinivella and all. Croppi. The new activity completed the panorama of the nascent Borgomanerese industrial system that already included the silk emperor Imperatori then Leopoldo Wollert and Giulio Strazza, known as Fabbrichìn, and the mechanical workshops Filippo Uecher and C., which then passed under the control of Giovanni Battista Primatesta.

The modern industrial Borgomanero concentrated above all in the northern part of the municipal territory that had been covered with plants, services and new buildings such as the aforementioned Wollert and Strazza, the Savoini cereria, the Cassina joinery, the Ricovero di Mendicità and the new headquarters of the 'Hospital. The major complexes made use of the decisive contribution of foreign capital. The choice of investors, especially in the silk sector, was well considered. In fact, in Borgomanero they found abundant and docile manpower, an advanced technology (the machines of Charollais came from the Tosi of Legnano and from the Battle of Luino, pioneer industry of the mechanical-textile industry), the availability of electricity, an original know-how fruit of a centuries-old tradition in the spinning of silk and of one of the most important silkworm breeding in the Novara market.
