The Société Anonyme des Tramways Provinciaux (SATP), commonly known as the Belgian company, was the concessionaire of a network of provincial tramways that connected Naples with numerous towns in the province. Founded in 1881 by the Belgian entrepreneur Édouard Otlet, the SATP implemented an expansion plan that led it to build and manage a fundamental infrastructure for the revival of the economy of the areas crossed.
The heavy damage to vehicles and plants during the Second World War radically changed the economic situation of the company, which in a few years was induced to sell the activities in favor of an Italian company that eliminated the tram operation. The SATP was dissolved in 1957
